Who doesn’t love the excitement of buying a new fragrance and trying it for the first time! We certainly do, but we recommend that you try a trial size of your chosen fragrance before purchasing the full-size option. Let us explain. . .
Why You Should Buy a Trial Size of Your New Fragrance First
With so many gorgeous fragrances available for you to try, it can be tempting to dive right in and order a full size spray bottle. Our recommendation though, is that you instead order one or more of our 1ml mini sample vials first and trial the scent on your skin. Here’s why:
-
You may like the scent description or the original fragrance one of our scents is based on. It’s important to know that ours are not the actual original fragrance and are instead made through chemical analysis of the original. This means that it could smell different and behave differently on your skin to the original.
-
Scent develops on your skin throughout the day. This means that you will initially smell the top notes, through to heart notes and then the base notes. It is possible that you may only like the top notes of your chosen fragrance and dislike the scent on you later in the day.Â
-
There are many different things about you which can change the depth and the longevity of a fragrance when worn, including your skin PH, how dry and what temperature your skin is, if your skin is dehydrated or well moisturised, your natural hormones and medication you are taking. Even the type of environment you are in can change the scent, including whether you are in an air-conditioned room or outside on a dry day.
-
You may have nose blindness or nose fatigue, which means that your nose becomes so used to certain smells that it rarely notices them, though others continue to do so. When wearing a fragrance regularly, you can become unaware of its scent over time. It’s not a fault of the fragrance, nor of your nose, but rather just something that happens to some people. Experts suggest that you swap to another fragrance within the same family, so you can enjoy a similar scent on yourself. Then after some time, swap back to your original fragrance to enjoy that again once more.
-
The way in which your fragrance is applied also changes the scent profile. A fragrance spray uses alcohol to carry the scent as pure oil cannot be sprayed. Some people do smell this alcohol, even though it evaporates quickly. When compared to a spray fragrance, a roller perfume is undiluted, and you will smell a stronger scent for longer as there isn’t the spray drift a spray provides.
Finally, there is one more reason why we recommend trying a sample size of a new fragrance before buying a larger bottle – we are all different and as such, smell things differently. Also remember that as our fragrances are phthalate-free, they don’t contain any hormone disruptors, are hypoallergenic, nut free and food allergen free, more people can wear and enjoy them, including yourself!
